“WHEN HOME IS AWAY”

From May 2011, Frankfurter ReiseBank will be presenting a photo competition exploring the living conditions of immigrants in Germany.

What they are looking for are personal takes on a ‘foreign’ Germany, what it’s like to live in a tense atmosphere of arrival, foreignness and migration. They are looking for personal perceptions and an artistic approach to the ‘foreign’ homeland. With this competition and 10.000,00 EURO in prize money, ReiseBank want to reach out to people of an ethnic background as much as to photographers keen to explore this topic.

By way of this contest and the suggestive communication in black and white, ReiseBank are giving out the message to their clients that they are the partner for ethno-banking.

“ReiseBank with its services are there for everybody travelling who want break down financial bridges tied to their native country” says Linda Lauer, spokesperson for ReiseBank. “Each year ReiseBank carries out more than 1.5 million cash transfers in countless countries around the world and exchanges money in over 100 currencies.”

The closing date for competition entries is 31st August 2011. Prize-giving will take place as part of an exhibition of the best works in autumn 2011 in Frankfurt am Main. Further exhibitions are planned as well as a touring exhibition around selected ReiseBank branches.

FASHION LOVES TRIBES


Symbolism, archaic forms, hieroglyphics - avant-garde hair cosmetics brand Sebastian is celebrating its cult hairspray Shaper with an exhibition of ethnic-inspired photography during Berlin Fashion Week realized by Matthias Fuchs. 

The fashion avant-garde love ethnic Symbolism. Style communities use archaic forms, ornaments and body codes reminiscent of earlier cultures. It seems that it is still all about demonstrating  clanship. Avant-garde hair cosmetics brand Sebastian, famous for its progressive hairstyling, is at home amongst this creative scene of the style communities. Sebastian is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the cult hairspray Shaper with the photography exhibition Fashion Loves Tribes. A limited edition of the Shaper cans will also be presented in an Egyptian ethno-look, designed by underground US jewelry designer and Sebastian style visionary Pamela Love.



FASHION LOVES TRIBES – Anniversary Exhibition


Galerie Morgen in Berlin-Mitte will be presenting the Fashion Loves Tribes exhibition on the 9th and 10th July 2010 during Berlin Fashion Week. On display will be works by different international photographers including Koray Birand and Yasmina Alaoui & Marco Guerra, whose pictures are influenced by the tribes of North Africa and Native Americas as well as the visual language of underground communities. On show alongside will be new, untamed fashion photography, similarly inspired. In addition, the exhibition also includes video installations in the form of artistic collages drawing on different themes: Primitive – The Search for our Lost Mojo, Native – The Big Country as well as Signs – Codes for Communities.

NEW YORK, NY - The 2008/09 winners in the 22nd annual international MERCURY AWARDS COMPETITION honouring excellence in professional communications will be announced on March 19th: success, Wella Professionals’ corporate magazine in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland by mfk corporate publishing GmbH (Darmstadt/Berlin), wins Bronze with its 04/08 edition ‘Mijn Luxe’ (‘My Luxury’) in the magazine category ‘Special Audience’. The international Lamborghini Magazine (Italy) wins Gold and the already several times awarded RAMP Magazin (Germany) gets Silver.

Judging for the International MERCURY AWARDS 2008/09 represented the most illustrious, creative professionals in the public relations industry. Over forty distinguished public relations, marketing, and advertising agencies, as well as corporate communications departments and public affairs offices participated in the judging involving over 100 professionals from Australia, Canada, Europe, Hong Kong, Korea, Mexico and the United States. Some of the elements considered in the judging process were: how effectively the material met the stated objectives; how well the material was communicated to the designated audience; use of imaginative and original solutions; and the overall expression of the message.

On June 27th 2007 the Forum Corporate Publishing (FCP) together with its media partners acquisa, Horizont and w&v awarded Gold and Silver of the >Best of Corporate Publishing Award< for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Among other high class Gold and Silver Award winners like >bulletin< (Credit Suisse), >Centurion< (American Express) >Mini Magazin< (BMW), >t-mobile_life< or >Lufthansa magazin< Wella Professionals' corporate magazine >success< was awarded the BCP Silver Award 2007. The BCP Award is the most famous award for corporate publishing in Europe, honouring oustanding publications of German, Austrian and Swiss companies. A jury of nearly 100 people, among them journalists, business representatives, marketing and print experts, met twice to sift and judge more than 580 applications, which was a record number in 2007.

Only one year after its launch by Matthias Fuchs Kommunikationsmanagement (Darmstadt/Berlin) >success< has thus been awarded with the Best of Corporate Publishing Silver Award 2007 for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The prizes were awarded on a gala with more than 400 guests from economy and media in the hotel Sofitel Bayerpost in Munich. Judith Rakers, TV presenter (Norddeutscher Rundfunk NDR) and Manfred Hasenbeck, chairman of the Forum Corporate Publishing, hosted the event. Dr. Frank Schirrmacher, editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), delivered the opening adress: "With their texts, their picturesque language and their layouts the publications we are awarding tonight are ranking among the best corporate publications in Germany, Austria and Switzerland this year."


>New to the Eye< - The Sebastian Fashion Photography Contest on Hair


Summer 2008: Sebastian Professional is not only the worldwide leader in artistic hair fashion, but has also been the epitome for artistic fashion photography on hair for more than 30 years. The Los Angeles based designer brand with its strong focus on professional styling tools is now inviting young photographers and creative people to present their innovative visions and individual interpretations of hair fashion photography in Sebastian Professional\\\'s Fashion Photography Contest >New to the Eye<, which is announced for the first time this year.

"With this new type of contest we want to offer a forum for surprising, avantgarde and individual interpretations of modern fashion photography on hair, thus folllowing our tradition of being edgy and always taking up new trends in art and culture", says Tobias Staehle, Associate Marketing Director, Brand Operation Leader and Premium Brands, Professional Care DACH MDO/P&G. "Especially for young creative people dealing with fashion is essential, its an important part of their environment, reflecting their awareness of life."

The call for entries is mainly focussing on Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Entitled to participate are young photographers, creative people (e.g. graphic and visual designers), fashion students or others who are concerned with fashion photography. But also stylists and other creative people of the beauty-scene are invited to take part in the Sebastian Professional contest. "This contest considers the fact that the boundaries among salon, set, fashion and beauty-scene within the Sebastian Professional\\\'s target group are fluent", says Tobias Staehle.

Online and offline entries to the Sebastian Professional Fashion Photography Contest on Hair will be accepted from June 1st, 2008, to January 30th, 2009. More than 400 pink posters sent out to universities, galleries and agencies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland will attract attention for the contest.

An international jury* grants awards to a total amount of € 15.000. Apart from the money prize Sebastian Professional (P&G professional care) will offer seleceted participants assignments for fashion shootings. Since January 2008 Alnatura Magazine turns up with a new concept and a fresh layout. The monthly magazine, available in Alnatura Super Nature Markets in Germany, is addressing customers of the Alnatura Production and Trading GmbH, Bickenbach. The idea behind the new concept is to clearly separate advertisements and product recommendations from editorial articles. As a whole the magazine’s appearance has become more magazine-like and modern. The relaunch is the result of a readers’ survey Alnatura Magazine conducted in 2007, which revealed the high educational level of the company’s customers. Compared to Germany’s overall population Alnatura Magazine readers are above average in education, an overproportional number of them have a job and their average age is 43 years.

„Credibility is in the focus of our attention, because openness and accountability inspire confidence. Getting in touch with the people behind our bio products means identification. In this aspect Alnatura clearly offers more than the big competing chain stores pushing strongly into bio market, too. And this personal experience with ‚bio’ is what we want to bring about with our magazine’, says Matthias Fuchs, mfk corporate publishing GmbH’s general manager and owner.

After the relaunch the number of pages of the Alnatura Magazine went up to 36 with a monthly circulation of 75.000 - with upward tendency thanks to the continual opening of new Alnatura Super Nature Markets. 2011 the number of pages went up to 44 with a monthly circulation of almost 100.000.

Close-up on Hair in Fashion Photography. From 3rd to 17th April 2009, the artMbassy Gallery in Berlin-Mitte shows the "Best Of" from the Fashion Photography Contest on Hair, "New to the Eye", by Sebastian Professional.
The exhibition "Best Of" from the Fashion Photography Contest on Hair, "New to the Eye", by Sebastian Professional opens in Berlin. The focus is on photographic interpretations concerning the topic of fashion photography with reference to "Hair". For the P&G professional care brand Sebastian Professional, the avant-garde haircare brand from Los Angeles - which itself has come to epitomise Artistic Hair Fashion Photography through its provocative visuals - Matthias Fuchs Corporate Communications Management invited young creative people, photographers and others to take part in the "New to the Eye" Fashion Photography Contest on Hair in Summer 2008.

Strong Participation in the Competition. Exciting Exhibition Tour. Around 120 creative people from across the globe sent in more than 1.100 photographs. A selection of the best (about 50 exhibits) are on display at the exhibition "Best Of" from the Fashion Photography Contest on Hair, "New to the Eye", by Sebastian Professional at the artMbassy Gallery in Berlin. After its premiere in Berlin, the collection will be on tour. Exhibitions are planned for Amsterdam, Vienna and Zurich. The Berlin magazine Prinz honoured the exhibition with 5 stars.

800 guests – VIPs, fashionistas, artists and journalists – celebrated at Berlin-Mitte gallery Morgen Contemporary the opening of the exhibition Fashion Loves Tribes (sponsors e.g. Ruinart Champagne, Coca Cola, Veltins, Gallo Winery). Among the guests were Pamela Love, US-underground jewelry designer and face for Sebastian Professional, Koray Birand (the campaign shooting he did for Laurèl was also on display and simultaneously the event served as official Laurèl after-show-party) and many others well known fashion photographers.

Swedish babe Maja Ivarsson is the lead singer of Indie band ‘The Sounds’ and the new face of the Sebastian Professional Color Ignite campaign. Maja stands for the 'hottest live act on stage', a true explosion of vibrancy. In order to create a buzz for Laurèl as well as for Sebastian Professional The Sounds performed live in the tent of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at the Bebelplatz.

The magazine Qvest wrote: >Yet no ambassador of the brand has perhaps been as charismatic as Maja Ivarsson – front lady of the band The Sounds and face of the current Sebastian Professional Color Ignite campaign. Frankfurter ReiseBank presents a photo competition exploring the living conditions of immigrants in Germany.
What they are looking for are personal takes on a ‘foreign’ Germany, what it’s like to live in a tense atmosphere of arrival, foreignness and migration? They are looking for personal perceptions and an artistic approach to the ‘foreign’ homeland. With this competition and 10.000,00 EURO in prize money, ReiseBank want to reach out to people of an ethnic background as much as to photographers keen to explore this topic.
By way of this contest and the suggestive communication in black and white, ReiseBank are giving out the message to their clients that they are the partner for ethno-banking.
The closing date for competition entries is 31st August 2011. Prize-giving will take place as part of an exhibition of the best works in autumn 2011 in Frankfurt am Main. Further exhibitions are planned as well as a touring exhibition around selected ReiseBank branches.
